The Keto Mojo App
The Keto-Mojo app connects via Bluetooth and syncs all patient data from Keto-Mojo meters, including glucose readings, ketone readings, and the resulting Glucose-Ketone Index (GKI) numbers. The app also features filtering, the ability to display data by date range, tagging (e.g., pre-post prandial, pre-post exercise, etc.), and trend plots. Users can also use the app for supply management and to receive reminders to repurchase before running out of strips.

Keto-Mojo has a growing list of consumer health app integrations where patients can track their glucose, ketones, and in some cases GKI, alongside other health metrics.
The Keto-Mojo Classic app allows patients to generate, download, and share simple CSV files with providers. While CSV functionality is not as sophisticated or convenient as our other options, we are committed to providing patients and practitioners with a variety of ways to use and benefit from their data.
Product Performance & Accuracy:
What You Need to Know as a Provider
FDA/ISO Certifications: Exceeding Standards
While no portable meter is as accurate as a GCMS lab test, the Keto-Mojo GK+ meter exceeds FDA and the more stringent ISO standards and provides more representative readings compared to other competitor products. That’s why experts trust Keto-Mojo meters and we have the honor of providing meters for clinical studies at UCSF, Cedars-Sinai, Stanford University, Duke University, and other esteemed institutions.
Control Solutions Come Standard
Keto-Mojo includes glucose and ketone control solutions in all meter kits, meaning that if you or your patients suspect that a meter is giving an inaccurate reading, you can easily perform a control test to determine whether it’s malfunctioning. While human error is by far the most common cause of inaccurate test results, all of our products are covered by a lifetime warranty and guarantee.
In most cases, patients can use their pre-tax health savings accounts (HSAs) or flexible spending accounts (FSAs) to purchase a Keto-Mojo Meter and testing strips. Our meters are also eligible for coverage under plans that cover glucose meters and glucometers because they’re categorized as FDA-Approved Class II medical devices for self-testing of blood glucose and ketones for Type 1, Type 2, Gestational, and Pediatric Diabetes.
CGM vs Blood Glucose-Ketone Monitoring
Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) devices or systems are currently popular among some providers and patients, but have several significant shortcomings compared to state-of-the-art glucose & ketone meters. Read More
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) About Glucose & Ketone Monitoring
Regular ketone testing is the only reliable way to ensure patients stay in nutritional ketosis on a low-carb or ketogenic diet. Maintaining a state of ketosis is linked to improved outcomes in terms of body weight, blood glucose, insulin resistance, and other risk factors.² Nutritional ketosis is an excellent indicator of compliance as well as being predictive of long-term health success. As an added bonus, regularly monitoring ketone levels acts as an added safety measure for patients with diabetes who may be at risk of ketoacidosis.
Simply put, blood ketone measurement is the gold standard for ketone testing. Whereas urine strips measure excess ketones excreted from the body (acetoacetate) and don’t provide a precise reading of ketone levels, and breath testing measures acetone which is subject to fluctuating readings based on many variables, blood ketone meters provide a direct and extremely accurate measurement of beta-hydroxybutyrate, the primary ketone used by the body as fuel in a state of nutritional ketosis.
Aside from the well-known role that blood glucose testing plays in management of diabetes, glucose testing is also highly valuable to anyone following the ketogenic diet, whether or not they have diabetes. Glucose testing allows pre- and post-meal comparisons of blood sugar response to troubleshoot hidden sources of carbohydrates and trigger foods that can disrupt nutritional ketosis. It also enables calculation of the Glucose Ketone Index (GKI) for therapeutic ketosis (a calculation the Keto-Mojo app provides automatically for every reading).
At Keto-Mojo, we’ve found that more frequent testing early on is the best way to ensure success for patients new to the ketogenic diet. Performing two or three glucose and ketone tests per day takes less than five minutes total, helps build healthy habits, and provides extremely detailed information about fasting, daytime, and postprandial levels of glucose and ketones as well as the ability to accurately calculate the Glucose-Ketone Index (GKI) and assess trends over time.
The most important times for most patients to obtain daily glucose and ketone readings are a fasted reading upon waking, readings taken before and after meals to determine the effects of specific foods on postprandial glucose and ketone levels, and readings taken two to three hours before eating to understand baseline glucose and ketone levels during the day. The Keto-Mojo GK+ Meter offers features like test reminder alarms and pre- and post-meal markers to help patients remember to test at regular intervals and ensure test results are relevant to the patients’ health goals.
The Keto-Mojo app stores unlimited readings and also features backup data syncing with MyMojoHealth secure cloud storage, allowing patients to use multiple devices and share data with providers. Users also have the option to create local data backups from their devices as well as generate exportable CSV (comma-separated value) files.

“It Will Let Us Monitor Patients’ Progress from Afar”
After testing several devices, we decided to move to the Keto Mojo exclusively. It’s a real game-changer and will let us monitor patients’ progress from afar — something we have come to value even more in the wake of COVID-19 concerns. I’m proud to be one of the first offices using this system for our patients.
“The monitor is Impressively User Friendly”
I’ve kept a Keto-Mojo monitor in my back pocket for years, and it has been among my most invaluable tools. I first used Keto-Mojo for my own purposes, as a patient. I struggled with several inflammatory conditions, including severe ulcerative colitis, and discovered that a ketogenic diet put my diseases into what has become a lasting remission. The Keto-Mojo monitor gave me insight into how diet interacted with my metabolism and, thereby, gave me the power to engage in experiments to optimize my ketogenic diet for my particular biology.
