How long have you been doing keto?
Since September, 2020What motivated you to start keto?
My thankfully persistent sister…lol. I am 64 years old and HAD prediabetes, and high blood pressure (for which I WAS on meds for 40+ years). I was morbidly obese weighing in at 270 pounds. I had Gastric Bypass in 2007, and because of what they tell you to eat afterward (whole grain breads, pasta, brown rice, sweet potatoes) along with just eating the other crap, I put all the 90 lbs I had lost back on.What benefits/successes have you experienced?
I am no longer prediabetic, and no longer on blood pressure meds!! I have lost more than 96 lbs. and have about 30 more I would like to lose, and I feel great. What was the hardest part?
I really didn’t have any rough times with this. I am mostly ketovore, with an occasional Keto treat now and then. I will eat this way forever, as long as that forever is anyway. What were the keys or top tools to your success?
The biggest help in my life has been of course my sister and my husband who is a Type 1 diabetic. He was having a lot of highs and lows on an insulin pump. He got on board with me and has had great success also.Did you measure your ketones and/or glucose and if so, how did that help you?
Glucose rarely, and used the urine strips for ketones. Now, I look forward to monitoring these things more often. What tips or words of wisdom can you share?
The best tip I can give is to try keto for a minimum of one month. During that process, try the different foods and find what works best for you, within your budget. Don’t make it hard for yourself, and be sure to have a support team in place.
