Keto-Mojo Bluetooth Integrated Meter Setup

The Bluetooth integrated Keto-Mojo meter has Bluetooth built into the meter and allows you to transmit your data directly from your meter to your smartphone device for easy tracking of your blood glucose and ketone levels.

Step 1:  Installing the Keto-Mojo Classic App

You must connect to the internet from your phone to download the Keto-Mojo Classic app from the App Store or Google Play.

System Requirements

  • For iOS: software version 12 and above
  • For Android: software version 6 and above

Step 2: Setting up your Keto-Mojo Bluetooth Meter

*PLEASE NOTE: YOU MUST HAVE READINGS ON METER TO SYNC.

Please note that you must ensure your phone is Bluetooth enabled to be able to transmit data.

If the app says processing, your app is connected. Once you have a reading you will be able to upload.

To set your meter, you’ll need to access the button located on the back of the meter, inside the area where you install the batteries. Your Keto-Mojo comes with batteries installed, so all you need to do to get started is open the back and follow the directions below.

NOTE: All of our meters come with the batteries installed, the date and time set for east coast time, but it is very important that you check your settings to make sure they are set correctly for your location.

In the directions below, the “S button,” is the small orange button located right next to the batteries on the back of the meter.  You will use this button to scroll through the set-up options on the meter’s screen display and advance to the next setting.

The large “M Button,” located on the front of the meter just below the screen, will allow you to change the information displayed on the screen for each step/setting listed below.

  1. Start with the meter off (with no test strip inserted). Open the back of the meter where the batteries are located. Turn on the meter by pressing the small orange button, which is located next to the batteries. (We call this the “S” button.)
  2. Set the date; it’s critical that your meter is set to the correct date.  If your meter is not in the current year, you will receive errors and waste test strips. 
    – You will see the YEAR flashing first. To advance the year, press M (the large button on the front) until the correct year appears.  If you go past the current year, advance the meter past 2050, then it will start over at 2005.  Once you find the correct year, press S to set the year and advance to the next setting.
    – Next MONTH will be flashing. To advance the month, press M until the correct month appears.  Press S to set the month and advance to the next setting.
    – Now, DAY is flashing.  To advance the Day press M to the correct day, then press S to set the month and advance to the next setting.
  3. Set the time format: You have two options for time format–12h or 24h.  Press M to select your desired time format, then press S to set it and advance to the next setting.
  4. Set the time:  With the HOUR / MINUTE flashing in sequence, press M until the correct hour/minutes appear.  Press S to set the time and advance to the next setting.
  5. Set the unit of measurement for glucose: Press M to switch between mg/dL or mmol/L;  then press S.  The standard in the U.S. and Germany is mg/dL and the standard in all other countries is mmol/L. This setting does not affect your ketone unit of measurement which will always be mmol/L.
  6. Set the buzzer: The buzzer alerts you that you’ve filled the strip channel with enough blood for the meter to conduct the test; its activation is optional.  Press M to switch between “On” and “Off,” then press S to set it and advance to the next setting.
  7. Delete the memory:   When you receive your new meter, it will not have any memory/records of your testing to delete. So, when  “dEL” appears on the display, press M and select “No,” then Press S to advance to the next setting. However, should you ever want to delete all your meter results, press M and select “yes”, press S and advance to the next setting. (Note: The meter will hold 1000 readings)
  8.  Set the reminder alarm:  Your meter has four reminder alarms, so you can set reminders for yourself four times per day. When programming a new meter, the reminder alarm will display “OFF” and “AL1.” If you don’t want to set an alarm, press S to skip this step;  If you do want to set alarms, press M to select “On,” then press S.  With the minute flashing in sequence press M to select the desired hour/minute you want the alarm to sound, then press S to set it and go to the next alarm setting. Note: once the alarm is set, it will beep when it goes off for 2 minutes unless you press M, which will switch it off.
  9. Set the auto-send: (For Keto-Mojo APP) Press M to select the auto-send (“AS”) “On” or “OFF”. Press S to set and advance to the next setting.
  10. Set the backlight: The default setting for the meter backlight (“BL”) is set to On. If you want to set it to off, press M to select “Off,” then press S and your meter will show OFF before it shuts off.

All of these parameters can ONLY be changed while the meter is in the setting mode; if the meter is idle for 3 minutes while in the setting mode, it will switch off.

Syncing with Your Mobile Device
  1. Ensure the Bluetooth Feature is turned on in your settings. Step #9 above
  2. Ensure the Keto-Mojo app has the ‘Location’ permission enabled
  3. With the meter off, push the Bluetooth switch for 3 seconds to turn Bluetooth on.
  4. Follow the instruction of the Keto-Mojo app to pair the device.
  5. After successfully pairing the app with the device, the Bluetooth function of meter must be on (see #1) before transmitting the data to the Keto-Mojo app.

  1. the Bluetooth pairing setup instruction are terrible, the set up video stopped short- so did the instructions here, where is Step #9 above??

  2. I can’t sync and not sure i’m setting up correctly or even in right app to do that.
    also: I already get your emails.
    Also is .3 ok for keto reading or does it need to be 3 to be in ketosis?

  3. bluetooth worked the first day I set it up. Now when I turn on bluetooth whle the device is off using the button on the side, bluetooth light goes away when I power on and my phone app doesn’t recognize the device.

  4. What setting is for the before eating and after eating for testing? Its unclear what is ON and OFF. My device does not indicate which apple is set.

  5. I wanted to know if I could share my meter with my wife, would the meter and app support that.

  6. There is no Bluetooth button in the battery compartment. Do you have different versions?

  7. Apparently these instructions are for a different model as the buttons do not match. I have the GK+

    My Keto mojo is brand new so…. what the hell it going on.

  10. I have the Bluetooth dongle that came with my KM however it is not connecting. I have followed all instructions. Light on the dongle doesn’t light up at all.

  15. A new how to is needed for the newer bluetooth technology. The machines don’t have the same buttons, & the machine are not syncing up

  16. Can we have 2 users on the keto mojo? We haven’t found anywhere that says how to get our own data when we sync. For example, I used the unit for a few weeks before my husband tried it. When he synced he got my readings as well as his.

  18. I need support – my meter will not connect via Blue-tooth. It did work fine and and today when I tried to use it it just refused to connect and tells me there was an error and to recycle the device – Duh, not very helpful.

  19. My finger got wet and was moist
    During the reading and it was artificially low. How do I delete a bad or corrupt reading?

    I dried the finger thoroughly and took another successful reading 5 minutes later but the bad reading skews my average.

  20. My reader S/N 4279420010044661 will not sync with my phone. I have reinstalled the app , reset the reader and still nothing

  21. Good Evening, I’d like to know how to send my ‘readings’ data which I have downloaded onto my android phone, to someone else so they may read my results.

    Also, I live in Australia, and on your “registration” drop-down box, Australia is not able to be checked.

  22. Instructions are for old meter. There is no orange button on GK+ meter.

  23. My GK+ Sync’s and downloads fine to my iPhone. If used to do the same with my Android phone as well, but now it will not connect. All the Bluetooth and phone settings are correct, but the app just ‘spins’ trying to connect. When I go to the Bluetooth settings, it displays all the various devices, THEN at the bottom of the list it says “Available devices” and listed there is Keto-Mojo GK+ Meter. If I click that, it says, “An app is needed to use this device”. I’ve deleted and re-downloaded the Keto-Mojo Classic app numerous times, rebooted the phone, and all to no avail . . . just the same message. What’s wrong and how do I fix it? Again, the GK+ has no issues at all downloading to my iPhone. PS – I turned off the iPhone Bluetooth so there wouln’t be any conflicts, but still the message on the Android phone, as listed above.

  26. I think my husband’s new meter maybe defective. Keep having trouble syncing his meter readings with his iPhone 8. My iPhone 11 Pro is syncing fine with my new meter. Both iPhone have the latest iOS updates installed. I have even turned off bluetooth on my iPhone prior to his syncing and either his meter is not connecting to the app on his iPhone or not sending today’s reading from his meter to his iPhone. I have deleted the app multiple times and reinstalled but after the initial import of all his reading the issue continues the next day when he measures his glucose.

    I need your help in knowing how to wipe both our meters (saving our readings) then switch meters thus making his meter mine and mine his. I would like to reimports our former readings into our “new” meters and see if the problem reoccurs. That will tell me if a defective meter or an iPhone is the issue. If the meter is the issue, can I get it replaced? I will deal with Apple if the iPhone is the issue.
